Day three of our great adventure has started out really beautifully.  It’s 57 degrees at wake-up time, low humidity, and the Grand Canyon is beckoning.  We  forgot to tell you that we had someone join us in our great adventure yesterday evening.  Introducing our new mascot……

THE TURTLE!

We felt that he most accurately reflects the mantra of our trip…..we may not be getting there the fastest way, but we are getting there the most adventurous way.

As soon as we arrived at Grand Canyon Village, Kevin (the Most Interesting Singer In The World),  suggested that Jenna and Chelsey join him in a little adventure….

We also found that the Grand Canyon was not only beautiful, it was teaming with wildlife….

While we were taking in the awe-inspiring panorama of God’s creation…….

Cool Freddie E & The Crew felt moved to SING! After all…IT’S WHAT WE DO!  We felt that there would be no more appropriate selection than our National Anthem.  As we started singing, a wonderful couple came down the trail and agreed to film our performance.  We would like to thank Tom and Vicki Hoffmeyer of Whitehouse, TX, for taking this wonderful video and then sending it to us right away so we could edit it for the Blog.  We hope you enjoy it!

Grand Canyon National Anthem – Cool Freddie E & The Crew – August 27, 2012

Knowing that we had a very long drive to our nighttime destination of Porterville, CA, we got Jenna to take a great photo of me and Chelsey.

Then we told Chelsey that we had to leave, and she handled it like the real trooper she is…..

Well,  finally got Chelsey in the truck, and being the share-and-share-alike Crew that we are, it was then Jenna’s turn to drive.  She’s was so excited that it was her turn to drive.  Of course, Jenna’s first turn at driving did not end up being through the most scenic part of the Southwest – The Mojave Desert.  In fact this was Jenna’s view for the next four hours……

So, dear family, friends, and fans, we leave Day 3 of our wonderful adventure with one last word from Jenna…….

S E R I O U S L Y !!!!!!!!!!!

Good afternoon, Crew!  We are on the move and in the second day of our World Famous Cool Freddie E & The Crew “San Francisco or Bust” Road Trip.  Kevin, Chelsey and I had a fantastic first travel day ending up in Amarillo.  Fantastic grub at Amarillo’s fantastic Big Texan Steakhouse.  Here’s Chels getting ready to take on the “Man vs. Food” Steak and Shrimp Special.

One Cool place and, Brit (Brittania), the best waitress in the Panhandle.

New Mexico, Baby!

We ran into a little road construction driving to pick up Jenna at the Albuquerque airport, and being the ever-patient lady she is…

She took matters into her own hands…

We finally caught up with her at The Continental Divide doing what Jenna does best…..

Ok…….
wait for it………
she was at……..
The Continetal Divide Indian Outpost…..

SHOPPING FOR JEWELRY!!!!  THAT’S OUR DIVA!!!!!

Once again, the Crew is complete and on our way to Flagstaff.
However, we did have to make a stop to gas up.  Everything was going fine until………

CHELSEY DECIDED TO DISOBEY THE “DON’T FEED THE ANIMALS” SIGN.

AFTER BARELY ESCAPING WITH OUR LIVES, I THOUGHT WE WERE FINALLY ON OUR WAY TO FLAGSTAFF……
Of course, nothing on a Cool Freddie E & The Crew Road Trip is ever that simple…..
The next unplanned detour was to the………..

WORLD’S LARGEST METEOR IMPACT CRATER!!

In all seriousness friends, if you are ever heading west on I-40 toward Flagstaff, please take a couple of hours to see this incredible site.  Formed over 50,000 years ago, this crater was caused by a tremendous meteor impact.  It is over a mile in diameter, and over 500 feet deep.

Of course, I couldn’t resist getting another shot of my favorite world-class vocalists.

The best Crew in the Universe.

FINALLY, WE ARE ON OUR WAY TO FLAGSTAFF!!

Our resident Culinary Diva Jenna, was in charge of picking our destination for dinner, and man did she hit a home run.

After a quick stop at the hotel to freshen up, it was off to Cirollo in historic downtown Flagstaff.  Friends, if you ever have the opportunity to be in Flagstaff, and you don’t stop in to eat at this wonderful Latin inspired restaurant, you are doing yourself a great disservice.  Check out Chelsey’s out-of-this world Fish Tacos and my exquisite Jerk Chicken Breast with Cheese Grits.

But what made this wonderful meal even more special was the incredible service we received from our waitress, Katy Brown, and our waiter, Jeremy.  They made us feel like regulars.  Not only did they provide outstanding service, they took time to visit with us, and really provided service with a smile.  Be sure and ask for them when you visit this wonderful establishment.

Well, Crew, Day 2 of The World Famous “San Francisco Or Bust” Road Trip has been a 600 mile “Adventures In Paradise”.  We hope you’ll check in on us again tomorrow, and each day of this incredible journey.  Sleep well, my Friends, and we look forward to seeing you manana.  Until then, take a look at a God’s beautiful sunset the way it was meant to be seen.
